Dear M.,
I don’t know if it’s late May or if it’s late for childhood memories…I guess it’s never too late for childhood memories 🙂
It was a cloudy sky, and we were heading home, when we passed by a pastry shop, as we called it cafeteria.
We entered and I can still remember the smell of cookies combined with coffee and cigarettes. You asked me to choose one cake from the refrigerated display case, and your face was shining with love, and I just sat there and didn’t feel the need to eat anything, as if your love filled my stomach and I was no longer greedy or hungry. I chose one cake and we sat at a table. I don’t even recall what kind of cake it was, but I recall for sure that you bought a beam of happiness, that I will never forget.
I am still entering these cafeterias, hoping that I can still buy some little joy at least…
